wow thats beautiful. That screams gold hardware. whats the bridge pickup? Nordstrand? also what fret size did you get? that looks tiny like mine. i have 6230's on maple/maple w/ pearl bind/blocks. Artic white body, ash, chrome hardware, NJ4SV's and an Audere.
well, first off her name will be Rhonda after one of my favorite Bassists, Rhonda Smith who is most know for her work with Prince and the NPG The neck is * 34" scale with 22 frets * 10" radius fretboard - 1/4" thick As far as the 'guts' are concerned I'm really torn right now between the John East U-retro Deluxe (scared cause it's EXPENSIVE and I haven't tried one) OR the Aguilar OPB3 like the one I just put into my Lakland 5501. Pups: Bartolini Tuners: Hipshop Ultralite Hardware? Gold is a bit to "bling" for my personal taste and I'd bought a black bridge becuase I was inspired by a Valenti that I saw but I think I'm going to go chrome at some point....soon. It's been a long wait for the body so today is very very exciting for me! I called warmoth and told the guy "I'm pretty upset with you cats right now.....pause...." W:"What's up" ME: "Cuz THIS FN THING LOOKS SO GOOD I'm GONNA HAVE TO HIRE AN ARMED GAURD TO ACCOMPANY ME ON GIGS DAMNIT!!!! He got a good chuckle out of it!!!
Yeah i'm gonna have to do that with Warmoth at some point. They really did do a great job with the finish on mine. I chose to hide the nice ash they used with a solid color. But that top looks outstanding. Love it!
That's a nice looking top! Personally, I'd go with black hardware. Let's hope when you get her all together that Rhonda sounds as nice as she looks!
I've gone from full grown man to school girl overnight falling over the quarterback. Can't stop looking at the damned thing, itchin' like a junkie trying to get that next bass fix. Thanks ya'll for the feedback!!
Beautiful. Nice bridge, the TK is a good one. Did you get a chance to check out those Norstrand pickups we talked about? EDIT: Further inspection of your bridge route... Dont think the norstrand soapbars will fit. You should probably go with Barts like you had been thinking. I listened to all your songs on myspace, and those will work well with your sound. GL!
Bro, your excellent taste in woods is showing! The U-retro is one of my faves. I have the deluxe, but always run with the passive tone control full-up so it's superfluous for me. I am curious - what kind of tool is necessary for adjusting your truss rod? The Warmoth neck I purchased had a slot for a straight-blade screwdriver like a vintage Fender neck. I agree with your choice of black hardware! Who makes the TK bridge you went with? Sorry, but I don't have a recommendation for a good personal security agency for your travels with Rhonda.
Spiritbass: FWIW, my Warmoth neck included an allen wrench adjustment, and it was standard fender size.
If I may side track a little... I remember watching a Prince show years ago on Direct TV, I think it was taped in Vegas, and the bass player was a black female. I was just wondering if that was her. It's gotta be. What a great bass player, and a canuck to boot! This unknown person has always left an impression on me and I've always wondered.
