YEAH BABY!! My new 08 American Standard Jazz!
Blizzard Pearl w/ Maple Neck. MY GAS is cured as I got all my "J"s covered. I really like the neck on this bass, I like the rolled edges and there isnt any fret problems at all. The G string really rings nice and clear on this bass, dare I say piano clear. Unlike my other Js, Ive yet to find a dead spot in the usual places, but Im sure Ill find one eventually, but if I dont Ill be amazed.

The finish is perfect, the neck pocket is super tight. I really like the new bridge with the slots, and Im really looking forward to finally having some graphite in the neck . Im ready to fine tune this bass with my personal setup. The case is nice too.

Congrats XXL, the blizzard pearl/maple looks awesome!

I love my sunburst 08. I just put DR lo-riders on and I can't put it down. I went with a rosewood board but I really like the feel of the rolled edges on maple. Oh man, this has got me GAS-ing for another one :help:

    Cheers,
    Burnz

Very nice, I like that combo. Are you gonna change the pickguard?

Thanks Croox, as soon as I saw the blizzard I knew I needed one with a maple board.

Im starting a new trend ;)

Yes they are. I decided to get this over a Lakland DJ and a Ray

Thanks Burnz, I got those DR lo-riders on my J24 and I got Chromes on my Geddy. For right now Im just leaving the Fender stock strings on, but I have some string experimenting to do with the 08.

Hmm good question. To be honest Ive never messed around with pickguards much. Besides a black guard what would look good?

How's the B on a passive P in alder and rosewood? Also wondering the the pickups are humbucking with the different lengths and all. BTW the way, looks fantastic.

Great Pbass! Hard to find the P5s anywhere to try out. GC and SA didnt have any. I always wanted to try one out though Im not much of a 5 string player. I decided to keep the white PG for now/( w the sticker):D

I hear ya when I got my american standard they had a blizzard one too but with rosewood. If it was a maple fretboard, I'd have one exactly like that. I didnt want to order one and wait. I wanted asap

Hey Croox which one did you end up getting? IM actually having a bit of a time getting the relief exactly the way I want it. The truss doesnt want to move :meh: Ill just be patient and move it a bit at a time until its exactly where I want it. Anyone else having a time getting the relief where they want it on the 08s?

A Black Pearl pickguard on that Blizzard Pearl would look phenomenal!

  16. I've only played them in my local GC. You may want to try taking it to a luthier. If it's sticking you don't want to break or strip the truss.

I did a quick trussrod adjustment on my 08 P5 and it turned reasonably well.

I've always said that if I ever buy a Blizzard Pearl w/maple board, I would immediately put a black p/g on it. I think that would look killer.

Nice! I'm GASing for a 5-string Black Precision with a maple fretboard. I work at GC and can get an AMAZING price on one....saving gig money now!
