my genz benz shuttle 9 could do with extra EQ

    playing bass since 2005
    as you know, the genz benz shuttle 9 is a great amp, only problem is that its got one parametric mid! Other than getting a shuttlemax with more EQ options on, which EQ pedal would be good to sort this out?

    cool :) would this be better in a signal chain or in send/return on amp?

    The effects loop operates at line level. The eq would need to be able to handle roughly +10dBu to allow ~6dB of drive headroom (which is used by the output tube emulation limiter on the power amp). I don't know what the levels are on that eq.

    The pedal has a 10 or 12 db pad so it could work i think. Experimentation is the key.
     
  7. Padding it down is no good unless it has a booster on the output to bring it back up.

    I concur on the Empress para EQ. Really powerful for it's size and price.
    As far as using the eq in a loop, if Your fx loop is in parallel the eq will be blended with Your unaffected tone so eq changes will be undramatic and may cause phase issues. I run Mine straight into the amp with no problems.
