Finally I am getting started on this thing. Looks like a pretty nice piece of swamp Ash. I need to strip it, sand it and then finish sand it to ship it off to Roxy. Anybody got any hints, tips, clues etc., to help me along? I was thinking of doing it in a transparent black, wenge/ebony neck, and all black hardware.
    Ideas?
    Thanks.

  2. go transparent white instead. i have a black transparent bass.. and on stage they just look brown. besides i love white basses! :D

You should check out the Luthiers forum, a great deal of info available there from very experienced guys.

id go with a nice dark green dye with a faded white pickguard. i think they call the pickguads mint green.

That doesn't sound too bad, although, I would like to avoid a pickguard,
