My latest Sei bass ....

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Nick Bassman, Oct 26, 2002.

  1. To all those who remember I promised pictures of my new Sei bass sometime back. I'm still getting to grips with this digital imagery stuff so here is a taster for now. I will follow up with more when my results improve.

Oh my, that looks awesome. I have never seen a singlecut Sei, is that the first?

    What are the specs?

  4. Hi Geoff

    Thanks for the response.

It is the first single cut Sei, I twisted Martin's arm and this is what he came up with.

    Specs as follows 35" scale
    Maple/Ash neck
    Ash body
    Macassar fingerboard
    Thuya top
Bartolini p/us and 3 band actives

To say I'm pleased would be an understatement !

    Nice! How does it play/sound?

You have other Sei basses? Could you post the pics?

  8. Hi Jeff

She plays beautifully and sounds very warm but still with great clarity. I really haven't fully tapped all the possibilities yet. I have had two other Sei's in the past one of which I still have. I will certainly snap her too and post soon.

    very, very cool!

I would love to hear some sound clips!

This is one really cool bass. When I was up at The Gallery some time ago, Martin showed me your bass during build but it had not been finished.

It was good when I saw it but now it is awsome.

Martin is making me a bass at the moment, I hope it looks as good as yours does.

  12. Hi Matt

    Thanks for the thumbs up.

I'm sure your bass from Martin will be everything you wanted and a good looker to boot.

What are the specs for your baby ?

  13. mmmm, very nice.
  14. Hi Nick

My bass will be a flamboyant 7 string fretless

    Ash body

    Buckeye burl facings

Maple/ Wenge neck with an ebony fingerboard and inlaid black contrast fret lines. My intention is that only the player can see the fret lines!

Bart G6 pickups with Schack electronics

The bridge will have piezo's in them

and I will have blue LED's front and side of the neck behind smoked lenses so that they are not obvious when the LED's are not switched on - thats the theory anyway.

It should be ready in mid to late December and I will post some pictures.

It is a bit of a mad bass and I hope that I can do it justice when it arrives.

Beautiful. Just add legs, put a fondue pot on it, a glass of wine and a log on the fire ... you're set for the evening. No, but seriously, it's fabulous.
