Set up Bongo with flats, conservative lo, high mid and high tone settings. Lo mids cranked. Bedroom at 9 PM playing levels > Pigtronix EP-1 Envelope Phaser set to slow sweep and medium resonance > MB Mini CDM 121P set to a bit of midscoop and conservative lo, hi and VLE/VPF levels. When the phaser is on, the cab starts giving off a rattling sound when I play 2nd octave notes percussively. It only does this with my Bongo and not my Stingray. Anyone else have any experience with their MBs rattling at low volumes?
Why I like resonant/sweeping effects on the high side of a crossover or in front of some compression. When set for a fairly wide or low sweep with some resonance, they tend to make some pretty big low-band peaks, enough to interact with cab hardware or midbass humps in cab tuning, or to go into overexcursion, or cause port chuffing.
+1 again, sounds reasonable. You gotta expect a little bit of this when using certain FX with bass guitar. If it really bothers you get an extension cab?
I don't understand how an extension cab will help if the rattling is caused by the interaction of the phaser with the cab's design?
