i got this fender jazz MIM and it has a rosewood fingerboard and i kinda want a maple fingerboard for cosmetic purposes... would i be able to get a new neck??? i see they sell necks on ebay.. would it be hard to put on and stuff?

  2. Hard to find a replacement neck for a fender? Nah.
Though I don't think it would be worth it if its just for looks. Maybe if the neck was broken.

PS. Please don't break the neck after reading this post, thank you :)

You can find bass necks here. Considering just about every bassist owns a Fender Style bass, finding a replacement neck would be SIMPLE. Besides, Fender necks are the most widely produced necks ever because they warp like crazy and simply give lots of fret buzz. The maple fingerboard would be a brighter tone and most likely sound better for slap.

Of course if you bought something other than a Fender, you wouldn't be changing the neck:cool:

  4. Everybody's got'em - Warmoth, Mighty Mite, AllParts, Magic Dragon, even Rondo sells Essex maple/maple necks. They will range from about $147 for the Warmoth to about $39 for the Essex. Take your pick, any would be a good choice. Be prepared for a noticable tone change after the swap.
