My new (and first) 5 string

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Chris J, Jul 19, 2001.

  1. Just yesterday I went to my local music store and tried out a couple 5 strings. I found a Yamaha RBX765 and tried it out. I must say after the ones I tried previous to it, this sounded, looked, and felt like a pretty sweet bass. Lucky for me it was only $650. So I checked ye olde bank book. Alas $200 short. So now I'm spending my next two weeks waiting for my next few pay checks, while it waits on lay-away. Soon...

  3. ARGH! The pain of being too young for a credit card. Oh well. The lack of bills makes up for it.
  4. Remember those words in a few years!

Congratulations on the bass, it's a good one. I played the RBX760A and the 765A, both excellent.
I wound up buying a BB5NII. Very Fender like sound, only growlier. The RBXs have necks similar to Gibsons; wide and flat. This bass has an excellent active tone circuit in it. More people should discover Yamahas.

Good luck with it, hope your wait isn't too long.
