    Hi folks,

I'm glad to inform you my Jazz Bass Highway 1 just arrived.

I just played it a few minutes but did not plug it for the moment. But I can already say the action is perfect.

    Here are some pics.

That's satin lacquer finish. I'm no expert, but it looks like a slim touch of paint on wood, so that you indeed can see some wood grain. But it's not exactly transparent. I find this a bit weird, but it looks fine, and gives a pseudo vintage feel to this brand new bass thatjust came out of its box a couple of hours ago... :smug:

I too have a Hwy 1 Jazz bass in Honey Blonde and it rocks. I replaced the bridge with a BAII and the pups with Dimarzio Model J's and now its a REAL player.

I plugged it into my rig early this afternoon and yes, it rocks. Between its natural tone and the capabilities of my amp, I feel like I can get almost anything I want, tonewise...

The neck is killer, fantastic action, very narrow especially on the nut, and I was stupid enough not to consider any Jazz Bass through 28 years of playin'... :p

  8. Beautiful! It's just a classic look, what more is there to say? Enjoy it!

    I already do, thanks ;)

The general feeling of this bass is much better than that of any MIM I tried.

I also remember I tried a '80 JB two years ago. The feeling (action, construction, etc.) was similar, but the tone was not as good.

IMHO, they are closer to MIA's than to MIM's, even if the specs seem to show them as being similar to MIM's.

  10. Congrats ! :bassist:

    i read somewhere that Fender wanted to produce a bass that would look vintage sooner than their regular basses , so they came up with the thinner satin finish for the Highway 1 series . { supposedly ,the satin finish wears off and will make the bass look used ...}
    :meh:

i have played on the Highway 1 , and it does sound very nice . i like it !!

btw , nice purchase man . very nice indeed ...

    Nice bass.

So is a Highway just a MIM that's made in the US?

    Hardware the same?

The machine heads are the same. Apprently, the bridge too.

For all others elements, things are unsure.

Anyway, that bass looks and plays great, that's the only thing really important for me.

Pretty hot. I have a Highway 1 P-Bass in that same finish. I think that if you find a good H1, you've gotten hell of a bargain.

By the way, the Honey Blonde looks SuperHot with a tortoise shell pickguard. ;)

    Kewl,

What i like best is the fact that you didn't waste any time
updating your Avatar with you playing your new bass.
