    received yesterday my new bass!
it's a Tung, serial number 0001. It's not the first Tung ever made, but I guess it's the first bolt-on.
It's a 5 string, wide string spacing at the brige and quite close at the nut, the radius is quite flat. Very similar to the older Yamaha TRB5. Very comfortable.
I have Bartolini pick-up (any way to know if the pick up are active?), and a Bartolini 18V pre-amp.
The control are, volume, pan, bass, mid, treble. And the 3 way swith is the mid frequency selector for the mid control. There is no passive option :(. I better change my battery quite often.
The bass have 21 fret plus a "0" fret. the nut is metal, look like aluminium. I never saw that before.
The bass is bolt-on by 6 offset screw, look very solid. the fret are very small, just like my Sadowsky. The bass is very thin, and light weight. When I wear it on a strap, the bass wont move at all.

    The sound now.
It sound very close to my Sadowsky, but even more versatile. I really love the mid control with the frequency selection. I have so much sound out of the bass, it's incredible. It seem to be a little noisier than the Sadowsky though, I will see after I gig with it.

I really love that bass, it's now my main bass.

    Here's the pictures.

  2. Very nice, Yvon. But, as I suggested in another post, you might consider wearing some protection (protective-cup) while playing that beauty. That lower horn looks to be awfully sharp and in a very precarious position. :D
  3. Yvon,

Looks great! You finally went through with it!

Let us know how it does on a gig.

    Congratulations, Yvon!

I love my Pedulla and my Zon, but that baby gave me a major case of GAS when you posted those pix a few weeks ago!

Very nice indeed, post a review after you've played it a little while.
  19. and the award for "best bass doubling as a weapon" goes to...

No ones done a tung and groove joke yet.

That is a striking design. Have fun.
