Arrived yesterday - an old (87? 97?) MIJ Ibanez soundgear 5 string. Looks kinda wierd - besides lame rubber controls (2x volume and a treble rollof) someone glued some sort of snake skin fabric to the front body, but because of that the price was like 1/3 lower, so I don`t care.

It`s my first 5 string - played it yesterday for a few hours and didn`t had any problem transferring from my 4 string jazz. I finally can play "under the bridge" without moving my hand.

Action is very low, the neck slim and fast, and acces to upper registers much more easy. Also, having two full octaves on one string is cool.

Best part about it is the sound. EMG J simply blew away active mec system in my jazz. Besides a bit smalller sound shaping capabilities, it`s far better in every aspect - clarity, punch, growl&bite etc. etc.

Dammit, i love it:) Paid 400 bucks including shipment, a new set of strings and a new warwick gigbag.

Congrats! Those 80's MIJ-Ibanez's are very nice, after you upgrade the electronics. Wouldn't mind owning one again, myself.
