Hi Fellas, well after a long period of research I settled on the idea of commissioning Tom Clement to build me a bass. Here are the specs: 6 string fretted 34 scale with 19mm spacing "Anne" chambered design 2 Barts, passive, no preamp (is that redundant?) black hardware swamp ash body maple top bloodwood fingerboard Just heard from Tom regarding last night's initial test flight- she received good grades on sound and playability. I include 2 pictures. I think you'll agree......She's purty
Wow, that looks smashing! I didn't even know about that body style, don't remember seeing it when I checked out his site last time though that was a while ago. Wow, wow, wow... That puts crazy thoughts in my head. Mr. Clement may be getting a call from me as well! How big or small is the body compared to say a J bass? I hope it's on the bigger side - with my size, it may look like a guitar on me.
MMMM tasty bass there. It's quite similar in spec (kind of) to my next custom bass, which will be ready by the end of the year. These pics really have me wanting it NOW!!
to CNLTB; I know what you mean about the shape- Tom says of the Anne design: "The Anne is heavily chambered, and the body is made asymmetric for better balance when played sitting down." I almost always sit, and this is a pretty big body, I am thinking it will be a good fit. I am totally in love with the look of the bass. I should be getting it mid August- I will post a critique and some clips when I can. Thanks JS
Here's a pic of me with the Anne. For reference I'm 6'3" 255 lbs The bass is very comfy both sitting and on a strap Bill
Man- that thing is beautiful! I love that body shape and wood choices! This design is Fodera-esque in some ways, but still with plenty of its own identity. It looks like it suits you just fine. Makes me all the more impatient to get my hands on mine. All best Jon
Thanks for the pic/size reference... This is by far the best looking Clement I have seen, the body shape is just beautiful - very Fodera-esque as buddyro57 puts it - which is probably why I like. I am a lot closer to owning one of these than a Fodera.
As beautiful as this (and all) of Tom's basses are to look at, I wish you could hear it. Mine has Nordy Big Splits and a Nordy 3 band. She "sings" when needed and can be solid and thumping in a supporting role. Bill
