Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Stewmc5222, Dec 17, 2003.

  1. hey all,

I just found out from Bill Conklin that my wife contacted him a while ago and for my birthday this year, she's having him build me a bass!!

now I just have to choose which of the 5 designs we have on the board that I want most!!

from the seriously happy low end,

    very cool!!

Excited to see the choices too, and which one you chose.

  6. hey JP,

well, the short version is something like this:

    1) fretless 8 string, similar to my fretted 8
    2) swamp ash/maple fretted 8 with MM style p-up
    3) fretted 9 work dog (no frills)
    4) 10 string with a few bells and whistles
    5) 8 string fretted piccolo/bass-tar

I have it narrowed down to 2 or 3 of those, so I don't want to go into more detail as I slept very little last night and I want to call Bill soon with my decision.

thanks very much for the kind words, JP and j-raj! I am lucy, excited, and madly in love with my wife. I was crazy about her before, but this... wow!

    Tough choice Stew...

What are the electronics on the Bee 8 fretless?

  9. hey Geoff and j-raj,

yeah, the choice is not proving easy. the fact that Bill Conklin makes such incredible instruments doesn't make it any easier!!

the Bee has a single passive Aero pickup and no controls. it's simply wide open.

gotta call the guys in Missouri soon, so I'll post my choice (in detail) here soon...

    :D
