OK I am starting to salivate. This bass is coming together.
Nino posted pics in the luthier's Corner but the thread got hi-jacked. So here are the specs and pictures of my Valenti #20

    Swamp Ash body
Swamp Ash body with Natural finish
Wenge Neck with black laminate headstock face
    Wenge Board
    Nordstrand DC5’s Dual Coil pickups
    Aguilar OBP-3
    Black Hardware
    Hipshot A Style Bridge
    Hipshot Ultralites Tuners
    Schaller Strap Locks
    Strings Sadowsky Bright Nickel

The bass will have what has become know as the Poon layout:
    1-Volume w/p/p for preamp bypass
3-Treble w/p/p for Neck position P/U for Humbucker mode to Single Coil mode
4-Mids with w/p/p for Mid Shift
5-Bass w/p/p for Bridge position P/U for Humbucker mode to Single Coil mode

Nino I am smiling right now and will be smiling in my sleep:hyper:

Looks absolutely awesome. You'll have to let me know how that Wenge Neck sounds...

Good choice with the layout ;)

    Thanks guys,

I can't wait to get my hands on it. I opted for the dual coils because I love to get a varity of tone, and the wenge neck and FB is from my love for the sound of the MTD I am very curious how that is going to work out. The Poon layout well I only have Poon to thank for that "who doesn't like poon".
Oh Reff the scale is 34.
Anyway things seem to be coming along nicely, I plan on be very happy in a few weeks. I will be sure to give a review.

Ptidwell, that's a beauty! I have got to get either Valenti or Skjold to make me something before they start charging Fodera llike prices!

VERY nice. Each time I see a Valenti, I come a bit closer to taking the plunge.

Looks like it will turn out very nice. Those Nordies will sound great with that wood combination, for sure.

Question, though - maybe for Nino. Couldn't you have routed a separate spot for that battery, so he wouldn't have to unscrew the whole circuitry cover every time?

Incredible. It looks like the Nordy + Aguilar combo is getting pretty popular!

I may be wrong but I thought I read the Carey was using the Aguilar pre in the Nordstrand basses. I believe he is working on his own preamp if
it 's not already in his new basses. anyway I have heard nothing but good reviews with the Nordy/Aguilar combo.

Yes, I've use Warmoth for most of my basses. I'm also using USACG.

    Love the wenge :)

  18. +1 I have a swamp ash/wenge MTD with maple top and it's very cool.. it sounds so alive, even when played acoustically. That's going to be a great bass!:bassist:
  19. These basses are absolutely beautiful. That along with the stealth bass that was posted not so long ago are among the two best looking "traditional" basses that i've ever seen.
