Picked up my new FBB custom six string (#1065-02) this past Wednesday. All I can say is, WOW! I got the exact tone I wanted simply by boosting the highs and mids slightly and adding a quarter turn to the trim pot - the preamp of my Ashdown is set FLAT. The B string is tight and deep. Construction of #65 is top notch, and the action is low and fast with no buzzing to be found anywhere. This bass actually feels lighter and balances better than my Warwick! Complete specs are as follows: Top: Spalted Maple Back: Swamp Ash Neck: Wenge mains with Jatoba stringers Fretboard: Macassar Ebony Nut: Lignum Vitae Pickups: Bartolini M56C Preamp: Bartolini NTMB (9 volt) Misc: ABM bridge, Gotoh tuners, Schaller straplocks
Wow!!! You guys are really trying to make me like single cuts. This is the best looking FBB I've seen to date, single or double cut. From the picture the fret board looks like pao ferro. Is Macassar Ebony that light, or is it just a lighting thing? Peace, James
Thanks, everyone, for all the comments! Bryan R. Tyler I'll try and get some more pics up later (late tonight, maybe.) Groovecenter I'll post sound clips eventually, but it may be a while. malthumb The board is Macassar Ebony. You are right, malthumb, the lighting in the picture makes it look much lighter than it really is.
YAH MAN! NICE! When you comming down to the big city so we can try each others new basses! AJ ps. needs a better name than #65
Hi, Jason great looking bass. I'am waiting for 6-string fretless FBB. Talked to Matt should have my bass by mid, Aug. I also have bart, M56C pickup And Ligum Vitae nut. After seeing your bass, wish I went with wenge neck. Enjoy FBB Basses Rock!!!!
