Just bought off of the TB classifieds last week, somewhat of a dream bass find (for an admitted GASaholic). For some reason I like the understated looks of the old CT's and in general prefer the feel of older broken in basses. Voila...up comes a 1975 CT on TB

It really does play and sound amazing. I was a little worried at first before I got it that I was just assuming it would be an awesome bass, luckily it really is. It is much thinner and lighter than I thought it would be (I did own a no frills 4 so should have figured even his older basses were similar). The neck is perfect, feels so good, jazz bass width, medium "C" profile, and the width stays pretty narrow all the way up which is cool. Tone is to die for, it is all passive but super loud, actually louder than some of my active basses. Alot of tones, but in general the 2 I like are an almost upright sound you can get out of the neck, and a super gritty P/J sound using both pickups. All in all am very happy for a change!

Doesn't look like a CT to me. Is that the old shape?

Yes - not sure when the scroll bass came around, but the very early ones had this type of shape.

Check out Carl Thompson's website and you can see some of his earlier basses without the scrolls.

34" scale - perfect! My no frills was 36" which I always felt a bit clumsy playing

    Adam,
Are you currently selling this on CTbass.com? I noticed it popped up yesterday, just curious.

No I am not - those pics are from the original owner who I got it from. Assume he was maybe going to sell on the CT site and they just posted it weeks later I guess.

    I love it, fantastic bass!
