Well, here's my Roscoe SKB-4 I just received. This is a rare bird with the SKB body in a 4 string. It has just a shade more Teal color than in the pics. - Spanish Cedar body - Burl Maple top - Streaked Maple board - Aqua finish - Bartolini Electronics with 3 Band
Your feeble attempt to seduce me into buying a Roscoe 4 have not worked! ha! Stunning bass man. I hope she plays as hot as she looks.
Yes your right "Figjam". Somebody apparently must have custom ordered this bass. I've had two LG-3000's in the past but this SKB body feels a lot more comfortable to me, it's bigger. I would rather have the straight pups but I guess you can't have everything
Ah yes, that's a real cool bass... The pickups being angled or straight is a simple request for us to honor on a custom order, see Wilbyman's LG 3000 with straight pickups for an example of that. So, whoever actually ordered that particular bass just requested the slanted pickups. Indi, you know I'm gonna get'cha!!! The one that is linked to at Bunny is an LG 3000, not an SKB, and it's a killer. It's on hold right now, someone is going to get an exceptional bass, I really liked that particular one a great deal...thankfully for my bank account, it was a 4, and I can't function without my B....no B, no me... ...besides, my Century 6 is moving rapidly toward completion now...probably will be in my grubby hands by the week before Christmas!!!
I can always oblige with pics of this bad boy! Congrats on the Roscoe, Keith's 4 strings are very much overlooked! I love the SKB shape in a 4, but I find the LG very comfortable and the shape quite unique.
Heeeyyy..wow! Is that the regular placement for straight pickups? (kinda hard to tell with the ramp).
Gard may correct me, but I think it's the regular p'up position for straight pickups ala the SKB models. There is a jet black ebony ramp between two Barts, kind of hard to see in the picture. BF, how do you like the spanish cedar body for fretted? Does it sound like alder to you? (That's kind of my impression).
Exactly, we took the template for an SKB pickup rout and used it on the LG, it's based off where the neck pocket ends, so it's identical.
- I really like it. - Your exactly right, it's a lot like Alder IMO ... very resonant and fairly warm. I had a another Roscoe with Spanish Cedar/Pue Ferro board and it was actually a little Too resonant in a certain way. This SKB-4 sounds just right in that I think the Maple board brings it to a happy medium that works well. - BTW, your LG-3000 is looks amazing! - I'm pondering getting a ramp for mine, probably Black Ebony (like yours) to match the pup covers. Who made yours?
Nice Roscoe. I played my two Roscoes at three gigs today. The whole time, I just kept thinking, "Man this bass plays and sounds great!" I'm not asleep now because I'm all wound up, but my eyes are beginning to get droopy.
Great looking bass! I love the SKB body style on the 4 string. IMO the slanted p/u's look nice with the SKB body style. I'm a huge fan of the Roscoe with a Spanish cedar body.
