My new Sadowsky is here!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by OldCityBass, Jan 13, 2006.

  1. Ever since I came in contact with a Sadowsky last year I have wanted to own one. (Some of you may remember that bass.) Somehow the funds became available and a Metro RV5 was delivered to me yesterday from Atlanta Bass Gallery.

    My mini review -

1st off the bass is stunning visually. It kind of took my breath away when I opened the case. The neck is very comfortable to me and the string spacing feels great. The bass is nice and light. The set up out of the box was very low with very little relief. I actually had to raise the B and E a bit to accommodate my playing style.

I played with the band for a few hours last night and it never felt heavy to me. The voice of the bass is excellent. I set my amp flat and just made some minor adjustments from song to song with the onboard preamp (which is also impressive). The bass sat well in the mix and they guys I play with all had great things to say.

    Seriously digging this bass! :hyper:

I remember that post and I am very happy to see that a moral and decent guy like you has been able to pick up a Metro. I hope it serves you well for a long time.

I love that three-tone sunburst/tort guard/rosewood fretboard combination. Well done.

  16. Very nice! Congrats.

Looking at all Sadowsky's on here doesn't make it easy for me. I think I spent my tax return five times already.

We put a lot of effort into nailing a really nice late 60's early 70's 3 tone burst on alder. They are very different from the vintage 3TB on ash. The alder bodies back then were dipped in a vat of yellow stain which gave them the more opaque look in the middle of the burst. But some are hideous with very wide dark bands or very large and red middle bands. I searched through dozens of photos of vintage Fenders to find the right ones to reference (according to my eyes, anyway).

  19. Sweet bass man!

I can't wait until the Metro's come to Australia :hyper:

  20. Thanks guys!

I played for several hours with the band again last night and I'm really happy with this bass. I don't know if I've ever sounded better (tone wise). :)
