I was not supposed to do this. But I did. I was retooling my collection to change focus a bit and this happened: Ash body with maple top, birdseye maple fingerboard. Humcancelling p/ups. I guess you have to own at least ONE at all times right?!?! Thanks to XXXXXXX <name removed to protect the "seller"> for the bass. Enjoy your Smith!!! Backed out, changed his mind. Such is life!
Nice. It looks like this one does not have the passive tone control... is that correct? I can't quite tell, but I don't see the stacked tone control like on the newer NYC's. Also, is that some sort of switch that I see? What does that do?
That is the old preamp bypass switch before they went to they puch/pull knob. When I added the VTC to one Sad I have I had the switch wired as a mute/kill switch.
That is the older Modern Case (that is the name of the Company) that was form fitted and is a really good case. My NYC came in 1!! Unfortunately, they went out of business about a year ago... Peace, T
Both my PJ5's have these cases. Roger sill has form fotted cases though from what I understand. Unlike the Metro cases.
Thanks. I've just recently purchased an NYC and am not familiar with the older models. My NYC Vintage is the first bass I've owned with a Rosewood board since my old Ric 4001. I'm really a maple/ash guy, but wanted to try something different. I actually really like the bass... plenty of treble pop when you need it, but also very warm... nice bass, and really lightweight. I've actually played a few maple/ash models that I didn't like as much, but am looking forward to trying this one when I see Mike over at LDS. Thanks for the info... K PS The new NYC cases are actually really nice... similar to the ones MTD is using now.... hybrid case with plenty of storage in the internal compartments and external pocket. The backpack straps work, but are rather lame... they are very thin and tend to slip. However, the case is strong/rigid enough to throw in a truck or van when needed, and the straps work fine for short trips from the truck to the gig. It's also very lightweight. If the company would improve the straps, it would be the perfect hybrid bag/case IMO.
THE DEAL JUST FELL THRU!!!!!! You believe that!!! He backed out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After we talked on the phone and all. Oh well
There there .... have no fear. Alembics are still here! BTW, I haven't received my new NYC Sadowsky, but I still want it to have my children in any case. It's that good. In fact, I want it to do all my home repairs, cook, clean, take the kids to school, run for president, and .... Oops, you mean it doesn't do all that? Judging from the support it has here, you'd think that it did! Still looking for a NYC model to try ... maybe someday.
