    Hey all,

Picked up a new (to me) SB-1 yesterday. Black with parchment colored pickguard. In MINT condition with hangtags, paperwork and OHSC!

Plays great, light weight and I am excited.

It looks great, What year is it? I have an '87 that I bought new and it is my main player. Plays better than my '77 Precision. Good luck with it.

    Tramp,

The previous owner, who bought it new, said it is a '97. I played it tonight at rehearsal and it has a different tone than my other SB-1, but still sounds terrific and plays better than the other one by a pretty good margin. Flatter neck profile and just better set up overall.

Is there a difference in tone between the sb-1 and sb-2 w/ a tone knob installed?

I'd say due to the presence of the bridge pickup the tonal difference with both pickups on would be significant.
