Whoo hoo! It's like Christmas. Today at work, I got both my DeArmond Ashbory bass, and Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2! I got a great deal on the Ashbory--bass, 3 extra sets of strings, shipping for $250. So, I am pretty pleased. I can't wait to get home to do some recording with it through my Sansamp. Any tips from any Ashbory owners out there?
Okay, here's what a black Ashbory looks like (I didn't get mine from Bass NW, though): And, here is a screen shot of Gran Turismo 3:
Great trade, i thought the PS2 wasn't as cool as people expected it to be. the asbory beats an game system anyway. wow there sure are a lotta bassist from georgia
No, they have seen video games before. Seriously, only a couple of people saw it. One is a jazz drummer who is very acoustic biased, but he was intrigued by it. And, another was a chick who is really cool (a girl who models part time, and listens to Charles Mingus--nice combo, eh? ) and she thought it was "cute." I got the thing home, and tuned it up. I was amazed how it sounded when it was plugged into my digital 8 track. I was also surprised at how easily I could play the thing. I quickly laid down the bass line for "All Blues," and it sounded really nice. Big and fat and warm. Rubber strings--who knew? Unfortunately, my girlfriend's mom is staying in our spare bedroom where I have my gear set up, so I won't get to mess with it again until Monday. Oh, well. I'm hoping to use this thing as more than just a toy. So far, it has exceded expectations. Maybe I'll have Curbow make me one out of Rockwood.
yeah. those basses are neat and do surprisingly to me sound like a decent double bass... I may get one one day. It would save me the trouble of spending several thousand on the real thing
Well, I've got the real thing, too. I can't wait to get a pic of them together. Hee. That's the important thing, right? Pictures? It sounds closer than I thought it would, but it'd never fool anyone who knows the real thing. More of a sound of its own. I like it.
