This isn't anywhere near as impressive as John Turner's doubleneck seven-stringer but it may give him some competition in the "bass people ask the largest number of stupid questions about" area: {} And yeah, one of the nuts got lost in transit and needs to be replaced. But hey, the whole thing cost less than the strings on my DB.
I'll let you know as soon as I buy an amp... I'm in the middle of moving to a house that's in the middle of being thoroughly renovated so everything is in chaos right now. This bass happened to show up at a pretty inconvenient time.
You must be ****in' loaded! I can't wait for the day that I can afford to use a double bass as a stand!
Nah, man, it's an awesome piece of trompe l'oeuil (I don't think I spelled that right) photography. I thought it was the bastard cousin of the Bazantar at first.
Honest question: What's the use for those, meaning sounds, tonal prescense, etc.? What other instrument would you compare the sound to? Also, what are the tunings?
Tunings: E B, E C, G, D or B, F#, C# Can't say what it sounds like yet as I don't have an amp at the moment but a few other people on this board probably own Krappy 1-string or 2-string basses and can give you an idea. The intended purposes of this instrument are to: 1. look completely ridiculous 2. make people ask stupid questions 3. force me to get away from treating the BG like a downsized unbowable DB 4. be more portable than my DB or my Hembry doubleneck 5. be a cheap spare bass I'll post a more thorough review later once I get the amp situation straightened out. I'm also gonna keep stats on how often each neck gets used in a real-life band setting.
