This is my second Valenti and I have to say the just keep getting better and better.

    Specs for this are:
    Swamp Ash Body
    Transparent Blue Finish
    Maple neck with Maple fretboard
    Satin Finish on neck
    Nordstrand NP4 Pickup
    Aguilar OBP-1 Preamp w/ VTC
Hipshot HB-1 Tuning Keys with Hipshot Drop D-tuner
    Gotoh Quick Release Bridge
    Black Pearl Pickguard
    Black Hardware

I bought this mainly as a backup to my Valenti Jazz and those occassions when you need a P Bass (Most of the time ;))

I had Nino rewire it so it's Vol, VTC (Push/pull Active/Passive), Stacked Treble and Bass. He also set it up with heavier strings as I play in DGCF, he went out of his way to get special strings for the job and it sounds amazing. He also fitted it with a hipshot drop d-tuner which is now a drop c-tuner :D the tension and sound is great even in C

He shipped the bass on Monday afternoon from NYC and it got to me on Wednesday all the way over here in the UK, that is very very impressive, again just like the silver jazz it stayed intune.

I used this bass at practive hardly have to touch the preamp controls I leave the treble off and roll the tone back this is a very bright bass that cuts through the mix perfectly. It doesn't nail that Motown sound mainly due to the woods used in the bass but that NP4 is an amazing pickup just sounds so open, its like bass how you've never heard it before in a P.

Nino added the pickup cover at my request unfortunatly, no one at all makes a black P cover so he used a jazz one, some of you may notice that the P sticks out both sides, it's more clear in this picture, but I was fine with it and no one I showed it to noticed, but either way Nino is getting a Chrome P one covered black and will send that off to me as soon as he's got it done, which I think is amazing service considering I'm happy with the J cover no one can see the pup but he just wants it perfect.

So again another amazing bass produced by Nino, I am so happy once I've got my new amp I will be ordering at least one more bass from him they are simply amazing

that is one sexy bass

  3. VERY nice. As you can (barely) see from my picture, I have a similar finish on my Celinder. It's a great looking color and finish.

Not got the custom bill yet, you'll have to ask nino how much shipping was as he just gave me a price as he already knows my needs.

  8. I love that ash/blue color combination! I'd like to get something in that color one day.

  9. me too and it was one of my favorite basses at the GTG! Congrats!

How does Valenti compare to Sadowsky?

  11. Yes, I remember that bass too!

Lots of luck with it, TaySte.

  12. very favorably considering the price difference! Nino has the eye for detail consistant with the basses I've played that came out of Roger's shop (limited... only a couple from each).

Only difference that really stands out is the couple of Roger's basses I've played have been a touch lighter than the couple Nino's built... but only marganally.

Ste, I hate you... you have given me P gas. I'll order my Nino P today if you make a suitable contribution.

    Wicked looking bass, enjoy!

I'm curious as to what effect the Pickup cover has on the bass? Do you find it gets in the way?

I actually request them both my Valenti's were originally built with out the pup cover, but I like it, it makes for the best finger rest and having played a rickenback as my main bass for years doesn't get anywhere near being in the way when I slap. As always though if you don't like them you can take them off :D or if getting a Valenti custom never order it in the first place ;)
