Well, using my fine ebay skills :ninja: , i managed to get this beauty for a reasonable price, I would've liked to pay a bit less, but i'm not going to lose sleep over it. I know you guys like pictures so... here she is! I'll get some sound clips up once she arrives...

    Looks nice.

  5. I'm curious - I dont know much about the fortress; when was it discontinued, whats it made of wood-wise, and most importantly, how does it sound? :) :bassist:

Hot! Fortress MasterMans were the biggest source of my GAS in high school.

To the poster who asked, Fortress MasterMan basses had flame maple bodies. And I *think* the MasterMan was discontinued before the "transitional" era and thus still has the all-wenge neck and brass nut.

    Why were they discontinued, though?

They were a big hit from the start, or so I think.

I'd also like to know, if it's so great why'd they cut it???

+1. I love Warwicks in that color. I actually prefer any warwick in a color vs. the natural one's.

    Enjoy :)

I think it may have been because they realized that they had come up with a decent, ergonomic bass that a lot of people would really like. :p :D

Thanks for all the comments! I can't wait 'till it gets here. Just got it all set and paid for this morning!

Just bid at the last friggin second! :bassist:

oh yeah! I remember you... i was still in the shadows waiting while you were bidding. Hope you find another one..

I dunno, but its definately my favorite (looking) warwick. I still have to test its playability, but from what i've heard, it plays as good as it looks. Got awesome reviews on Harmony Central and the specs sound great!

I'll definately get some sound clips up once i get it. Might not be for a couple weeks because I'm going on vacation.. I have to get it shipped to a friends house :(

I know the Fortress body shape is back in the RockBass line, but I wish it was in the German line too. I love the shape and that long upper horn probably balances the bass really well.

Well, after a few communication issues through ebay, the bass arrived. Today actually. I can't stop playing it. It is the greatest bass i have ever laid hands upon.

As promised, a sound clip. I tried to cover a few styles in this recording:
