  1. Thanks to 5GHz wireless broadband, the only high-speed service available in our area, our dialup days are over!

And, when I get back to school, I'm getting rid of Verizon DSL (too expensive and too slow) and getting Road Runner.

Road Runner kicks major butt. I had access to that up in Wisconsin, and wish we had that service here in the Deep South.

:( I'm jealous of all of you. The only high-speed connections around here are Comcast Cable, which has been slower than my dial-up lately, and Bellsouth DSL, which has not been that reliable. I guess I'll just have to stick with my dial-up for now. I'm still pissed at my mom for passing up on T3 access for only like $30 a month!

  11. i dont think illinois qualifies as deep south ;)

here in texas we got it, i think the creator guy is from texas...or so the commercials we have have led me to believe.

I still got 56k though. I hate you all.

I have comcast cable, and it is super fast for me. It beat the pants off of my 56k dial-up.

Don't listen to what JR says... suburban Chicago is as deep south as it gets.

  14. JT: it's not 5 gigabits. It's 256kbits down, 128 up. Still pretty damned fast compared to dialup, though.

DHC: I live just across the street from the western boundary of Cornell's campus. I'm not about to pay $6500/year to share a bathroom and step over puke in the hallway.

Most servers are your slowdowns with roadrunner. I love it. It's 45$ a month well spent.

  17. :D

$30/month for me for the next six months--and since I'm turning off my service in May...

Now you guys have confused me! I just got broadband, it's costing £25 a month - $40/40 Euros?

Anyway, it's billed as 10 times faster than dial up, so I'm guessing it's about 0.5Mb. There was an offer for £35 a month to get 1Mb - but I can't justify the extra cash (I don't have it...) for it.

I'm really impressed, and now can't suffer normal dial up - it seems so archaic now........
