I made a few changes to make the bass more of a Nino Brown Jazz:

-instaslled a set of BassLine "Hot for Jazz" because I got them really cheap.
    -installed a HipShot D-tuner.
-I routed a truss rod cavity so I don't have to take the neck off every time I need to adjust the neck. The 1st GL Jazz I had, the 1st time I took off the neck, a chunk of paint chipped off & I was upset, to say the least. :)
-I changed the control layout to Volume Blend, tone cause most (I think all) my main basses have a blend & master volume.
-Put a Mirrored pickguard cause I like the look of my Sadowsky Vintage Jazz with a morrored guard.
-Changed the control knobs to the same ones that are on Sadowsky basses just because. :)

As is, the bass was great, the pick-ups didn't need to be changed but I like the sound of the Duncans beter so they stayed in.

    None.
wow, that mirrored guard is the nicest thing i've seen done to a GL!!!!

the truss access was my only beef with it. if i kept mine, i would have routed an access area too.

    great job Nino!!!!

The control plate is alittle darker than the Guard. It's alsmot looks like there is a slight tint (like tinted windows on a car) but it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. It's the same on my Sadowsky Vintage 4 also.

Cool bass, always interesting to see what people do to their GL Jazz.

  16. Sweet bass! I know you work for Roger and all but how easy would it be for a novice like me to rout a place for truss rod access?

I have added a black pearloid guard and a hipshot extender to mine as well and I run it through an outboard Sadowsky DI and it's the sweetest Fender jazz tone I have heard. Gotta love it.

Are those knobs proprietary or are they available to buy? I Love them knobs!

    That bass looks killer, too!

    Very nice Nino...now I'm GAS'n for one.

How do the GLs play and sound compared to a P? Are they American Fenders? Do they come in other colors?
