jazz bass seems , well, awkward, the yamaha just "fits" perfectly...i dunno

all i know is that whatever bass feels best, is the one ure gonna sound best playing....

Awww man. Is that a Yamaha RBX270? Congrats dude!

I been waitin' for the`270F (fretless) to get to this side of
the pond. Got some major mods planned for that thing .

Crap! Mars has the fretted `270 in four finishes. Natural?!?
Did I miss another meeting? :p

Again, congrats! These pics may show-off that finish better...

Thanx anyway - I got one too :).

Replaced everything on it`cept the string tree . That
blade-polepiece DiMarzio "Split P" is a nice option for the
stock pup. It's got a pretty high output for a passive and
even response across all strings. Tapping on a fretless?
    Nahhh :D

  7. Yeah, I replaced the pickups with Quarter Pounders, it sounds nice but the hum is killing me, not to mention I suck ass at fretless. Oh well. :D

  9. Go get those cool little chrome skulls.:D

Nice bass. Can I have it?

    Rock on

 You're killin' me here dude! :p

I'll just have to find solace in my Rob Allen doubleneck
Oh! Oh! Gotoh 201B's work pretty well if the mounting-
hole pattern is 5-in-line, like on the RBX260's. Chrome,
Black, or Gold. ~$20 at Warmoth.

  15. Have I mentioned that I hate you? :D ;)

Cool, I may need to look that up. What other stuff did you replace and what did you replace it with?

The pickup: DiMarzio Split-P. About $80 at M/F. It's got
those blade type polepieces for a nice "even" tone, and
a pretty hot output... ~250mV according to the D/M site.
While I was stickin' the new pup in, I beefed-up the wiring, esp.
    the ground lines.

The bridge: Tried a Bada$$ II. Nice tone, but a bit much for
the li'l Yammer. Ended-up with a Gotoh201B in black chrome
from WD Music Products. Almost 3 times the cost of the
one from Warmoth. I dunno why WD's are so much more $$$.
The reason I got it there was because the baseplate was
    drilled-out for a string-through option.

The tuners: More aesthetic than functional, i.e., everything
else was black - pup, knobs, and bridge. The tuners kinda'
stuck out. A nice set from Stew-Mac for ~$42. Dropped right in...

    http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/haze...p.html&A=+NAME_LINK=Gotoh_Compact_Bass_Tuners

Yup! Probably spent more on replacement parts than
the original cost o' the bass :p . But with some T/I Flats on
and running through a B15 flip-top...a touch of tube compression...:D

  17. Yep, that's it. Though in chrome, not gold-tone.

    Rock on
    Eric
