As some of you may know I dropped my bass not to long ago. Being the poor SOB that I am I can't get a new body for it so...what the heck I started fiddlin with the one I had. Figurin it's not gonna cause any more damage...this is what I came up with. All I did was sanded it down except for the sides...which is still the gloss black. Then I bought some $.25 sample of an American Walnut stain just to darken the natural ash a lil. Whadaya think...mind you I've never done anything like this...so we're talkin amateur hour!

That looks fantastic! Maybe do the same to the back and give it a black binding type look?

Of course there is where it gets ugly. Foolish me glues and screwed it back together when it was all black still. Then had the idea of refinishing it. So now I can't get the chunk of body off cuz it's glued. I would love to dress it up a bit better but just don't have the know how.

I like how it looks with the sides black... gives it an almost errie glow. Wicked. Nice bass, nice job!

Very cool! Perhaps it was lucky that you dropped it. If I had heard what you did minus pics I might have been sceptical. However, it looks awesome. Congrats - good job!
