Right as the clock struck midnight, I heard a pop out of my cab and then all the LEDs on my SM9.2 went dark and started flashing a sequence. Nothing was plugged in and the amp was on mute. Was working fine just a few minutes before. I'll call my dealer tomorrow and start getting warranty stuff figured out, but I'm a little bummed. I gig pretty regularly and this is my main amp. I'm fine with my Acoustic Image backup amp, but still... The only thing I can think of was that last week I was rehearsing in a new-to-me space and the power was pretty bad in the floor socket I was plugged into. The amp popped a few times before I got it to a cleaner power source. Maybe it was damaging enough then that tonight it just gave up and went into protection mode. Tonight's pop was the same kinda sound - sharp and loud - but my power at home is fine. My Monster Power strip (which the amp *isn't* plugged into) didn't notice any anomalies, and the voltage is right at 123VAC.
Damn craptastic power. Imo it's a required design feature that c.p. does not not kill a modern switchmode amp dead. Genz will surely see you right.
HOLY CRAP! I'm not a Genz Benz user -- but this is FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE! HEY OTHER AMP MANUFACTURERS! PAY ATENTION TO THIS! Congrats to GBenz
That's simply how Genz Benz rolls, and that's why the only amps I've bought in the past 4 years have been Genz Benz. Well, that in addition to the awesome sound and great functionality.
That is EXACTLY the reason I bought my GB Shuttle 12.0. I had a used 6.0, showed a picture of it here on Talkbass and they contacted me then mailed me a new outside casing because the used one was scratched and dented. Oh, and the amps sound AMAZING!
