After several second hand customs and a debacle with having Modulus make a bass to my specs, I decided to go full custom. After much deliberation I settled on Skjold.

    Here's the specs:

    1 piece ash body
1 piece figured bubinga top (pic 1)
    3 piece maple neck
    maple board
    matching headstock
    single SC1 pickup
    passive with tone control only
    matching pickup cover and knob
    black hardware
    Skjold Hipshot A bridge

And Juneau just posted a progress pic over on the Skjold forums today (pic 2).

    Pic 1 (the top):

    Pic 2 (in progress):

Is it too cliche to say that I can't wait?

You have selected one of the best builders around. You will have an awesome bass when all is said and done.

    Keep us updated with pics!

Sweet! I was VERY impressed with Tom's Skjold basses at his big GTG...

Nice bubinga...I'm really really picky about bubinga, and I think it looks great.
  12. Count me in! I like it already, I'm a massive fan of these basses!
  13. G,
Why the single pickup with the passive tone? Why not put in Pete's/John East's preamp for the soon-to-be-famous Skjold tone?

Or did I miss something here?

Really a super piece of bubinga!:D

    Thanks guys for the replies.

I am going with a passive tone setup because thats just the kind of guy that I am. I want the pure passive bass tones in a 6 string configuration and nothing else "in the way." I'm sure that one day I'll have one of Pete's basses with the full electronics package, though.
  16. Cool and congrats. I remember how good you sounded on that passive Carvin last time we hung at LDS... I can imagine what you will sound like on this beauty!

I think the delivery of this bass will be a good reason for a mini-GTG over at LDS.

Ken, I like the way you think. And thanks for the compliment.

You didn't sound too bad yourself!

Here's to another day of waiting.
