my stingray setup

    could anyone help me out, i have a new stingray and i'm having problems getting it to sound good, i've never owned a single pick up bass before so if anyone could help i would appreciate it

    My personal tastes on my Stingray 5:

    Pickup selector to parallel setting (closest to bridge). Treble at half, bass just past half, mid range just past half.

    The key is not to have your strings too high off the neck, it will sound dull and thuddy if it is. I recently got another 'ray used, and the action was so high you wouldn't believe the crappy sound, not to mention playability. Adjusted for a low action with a tiny bit of buzz, and it growled.

    holy cow you just described the crappy thuddy sound i am getting, how am i supposed to deecrease the string action?

    maybe a neck adjustment will do?......

    With proper truss rod adjustment and bridge piece adjustment. Either take it to an experienced guitar tech and pay around $40 or $50 to have it done, or give it a whirl yourself, there's a decent explanation of the procedure at www.garywillis.com

    well i got the guitar a week ago so they better do it for free or i will be really angry, wouldn't you?
