My trip to Lakland. Lots of pics

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Gecko 5, Mar 11, 2009.

  1. I went to Lakland yesterday to pick up a Joe Osborn 5 string I bought from Leo Lopez of Leo's Gear. Leo is a great guy to deal with.www.leosgear.com
The bass is a Indo-Plek(made in Indonesia, and frets done on a Plek machine). Incredible action, NO BUZZ, like butta,
Here are some pics I took

Here is a black Decade for Pino Paladino

A Burl top 55-??. Double humbuckers.

A Duck Dunn body in the same color as the LOG bass, Teal Green. Check out the LOG bass at www.laklandowners.com

    A 4-07 in a rare(for Lakland) Flamed Maple top

    Markus JO

Finally a US Bob Glaub 5 string. Even with out strings, the neck felt so much nicer than the US Fender P5 I sold last week.

Leo was nice enough to give me a little tour of the place.
I was amazed at all the basses waiting to be set-up/Pleked.
There are techs there that do nothing but set-up Skylines.
And one guy was working on one bass the whole time I was in the room. Thats how much go into these basses. I asked Leo how many Skylines they put out in a day, he said 12-15. I wonder how many Fender puts out in a day:meh:
I was surprised to find Skylines come with no electronics, and they come WITH strings which Leo says they "just cut off" to go through the Plek, and they are re-strung with their own strings. Seems like a waste of alot of strings.
Everyone there was nice. First class people

Nice! Can wait till that JO is in my hands! Oh yes!

My son has a bass just like yours form Indo. I can attest that the setup is perfect! As goo a setup and any bass even close to that price range!

Black Decade for Pino! Nice...I want to see him play it! It's going to KILL!

I wonder if the burl to 55 is a backup for Bill Dickens? I saw him play it at NAMM. So great!

    I have video i shot here:http://www.area5100.com/namm/

That LOG bass is going to look killer! Just as I imagined it! Yes!!!

I like the 4-07, but I think I like mine more. Like the flame, but a little too flashy for me....but I wouldn't kick it out of bed:)

Do you think they string them for shipping to keep the necks straight?

Everything looks great! Pino's decade is making me GAS for a decade (won't happen, though). My basses weren't around yet? Damn. Thanks for these shots, man. Awesome stuff.

I have to add that the 4-07's are incredible!!! I can't put mine down. The most inspiring bass I have ever owned.

I had a gig in Chicago last year and according to my phone I was only 6 miles from the Lakland factory but never had a free moment to go. Felt like a wasted trip (other than the money)

Are those new models? Don't see anything about them on Lakland's website. LH-3 preamp and ChiSonics I take it?

Yeah...new. basicly a 4-94 with Chisonic humbuckers that can be singles with a flip of a toggle. Mine has a passive tone control too. Here it is:

Nice. Love Lakland basses. I wish I still had the 4-94 I had a while back.
