I just got back. The more often you go, the less scary they are.

My dentist has flat screen TVs over the chairs, and you get to hold the remote control the whole time. If only they would give me some popcorn to munch on ...

  5. I have done many manly things in life like surfing waves that are three times overhead. But when it comes time to go to the dentist I am the biggest baby. I don't know why. Maybe it is the sound of the drill. Or maybe it is a control issue. This thread reminds me that I need to make an appointment for a cleaning. Yuk... but I need to man up.

    In the waiting room.

    Not happy.

Sign on their window says, "Dentisty for fearful patient." Or something like that. At least I'm in the right place.
  11. Dentistry has become much more gentle and painless these days. You've voluntarily hurt yourself much worse than this at the gym. Relax, you'll be fine.

Considering they've linked gum disease with other health issues such as heart disease, it's a really good idea to take care of your teeth and gums.

Your new book: 50 Reasons To Stop Putting Off Going To The Dentist

I go every three to four months. Preventative is way less painful and costly. See my teeth->:D

Plus, your breath will be way less stinky from plaque build up and gingivitas. :crying:

I'm 28 and my only problem is a baby tooth with nothing under it. I'm basically waiting for it to fail before spending the money on an implant.

    Stupid teeth.

I just went for the first time in many years because I had 2 broken teeth and 1 was starting to give me problems. It had to be extracted. I've had a lot of dental work in the past, including some bad experiences, and so I know what to expect. There wasn't much left of the tooth, so it was not easy to extract.

Now, if you're still with me, I have good news. They have gotten much better with pain control. There's a topical that they put on before giving you Novocain, and the Novocain doesn't make half of your face numb. I felt no pain the entire time.

  20. They should have a Thomas and Friends movie for you to watch while they are in your mouth, that will help.
