    SN- F924746 (made in 1992)

I checked the Ibanez Register Website (link above), and, from this serial number, it appears that the bass was made in 1989, instead of 1992. The "F" means it was made in Japan (Fuji Gen Gakki factory); the "9" is for 1989 (for instruments prior to 1987, there was a 2-digit date code; for 1987-1996 -- I think -- it was the last digit of the year); and 24746 means it was the 24746th instrument made that year at that factory.

Don't know if this helps, but knowing what year it was made could go a long way toward identifying it. Some models were only made for a few years.

The Ibanez 1990 US Catalog seems to be the first time a bass with block inlays, pointy headstock, and PJ pickups entered the picture. An S Bass, like the one pictured above.

    Is this it?

  7. yup EX series I once had a EX445 which had a pointy headstock that was the same as an Ibanez Jem guitar..

there was another Jazz model in burst colors with a similar headstaock but it was more rounded.
