Took the LTD B-50 I got a couple of weeks ago back to GC because of some electronics issues. Gave me a refund on it (including shipping) and found another one, even though it doesn't have Basslines pickups, for less money. New one came while iI was at work today. The packing job was lots better on this one. Got it unpacked and checked out. Everything is a okay. Surprised that it is active. Other was passive. Need to do some minor set up and some cleaning. The sound is fantastic. I am attaching some crappy pictures from the crappy camera on my phone. I think my pictures got put in twice. Sorry about that. I will try to fix later. IMG_20190412_180016. sweet, hope it works out for you this time. mine is passive but is 2nd only to my G&L L2KT in power and may have had a whole PU / wiring redo, but maybe not IDK. your headstock logo is slightly different and I had to flip the trussrod cover to get rid of the ESP logo to look like yours does. I'll be looking forward to your update.

Yours probably has the logo that looks handwritten. Those are the older models (from what I was told). When I first plugged in, the output was low so I changed the battery and that really ”woke” it up. Seems to have good power but not as overbearing as my Sterling was. I really like the sound of PJ basses with both pickups wide open. This one is also Indonesian made and the other was Korean. Don’t know if one has an advantage over the other.

    BassV,

Do you know of a way to tell by the serial number when and where this bass was made?

no clue on that, but mine is Indo as well, if there's a better version that would be scary lol
the actives likely need to be unplugged to save battery juice, it's easy to forget...

Nice, hope you enjoy it! I'm curious what the controls are. If I recall correctly, my passive b50 was volume, blend, tone. Is the active version the same?

Yeah, I have become accustomed to doing that when I had my Sterling. I have a Washburn that is the same way (active).

I will dig around on the ‘net and see if I can find something on the serial number lookup.

i think it is volume, volume, tone as far as I can tell. Pretty sweet player. Had to raise the action a little on G. Intonation is dead on and the neck is straight. Got it cleaned and spit shined. Not a bad deal for $120.

Ah, the LTD. One of these was my first bass. Pawn shop, bad condition, and I loves it anyway because of the ergonomics. You'll have fun with this one.

I love it already. Very comfortable bass to play. Love the neck. I think this one is gonna be a keeper.

What gauge strings you run on your 50? Mine looks like they are probably 95-45’s. I know they are a lot lighter than I am used to.

they're whatever came on it from the previous owner who played very hard and are rather tarnished now, but they feel / sound fine and I virtually never change strings. they're not big at all, I'm guessing they'd be 95-45 rounds of some sort but they sound bigger. I'd rather get a 2nd B-50 to try other strings on and leave this one as is.

Yeah, I had thought about maybe getting another one to use a a modding platform. Maybe I can find another one at a good price I will pick it up. I don’t change strings often either. I had a Peavey Foundation that wore the same strings (GHS Bass Boomers) for 15+ years. Still held a tune and played fine, til my 4 year old son tried to tune it and broke a string.

Here is a picture of the battery box location. The white sticker on the upper right of the body is the battery box. I have always seen them low on the body in front of the electronics cavity. IMG_20190413_181944.

No problem. A good sense of humor is a must. Didn’t realize I had a picture of the battery box in the first group of pictures but it’s all good.
