Well, she just got here. I bought this 2001 American Precision from TB member @d00dr. I've been thinking of getting a second P for flats, and the color on this was too nice to resist. Not bad for a bass almost two decades old. There are a couple of chips in the finish on the back of the neck, but they can be filled/sanded. I'll probably wet sand the body when I get a chance, and the neck will need a little tweak. But it plays nice - I can't wait to get home and try it out on a real rig (at work I just have a little 5 watt guitar amp in the corner.

Obligatory pics: box IMG_20181114_125438. case and of course the tangerine body with gold pick guard:

I’m looking at the nice bass and I am looking at the fine people who have gathered here for Bully’s NBD and I’m feeling shackled. Feeling like I just hopped over the fence and I’ve gotta get a move on it or I’m gonna get smoked. Feeling like the cat that swallowed the canary. Are we sure it was a canary’ ?. Could have just as easily swallowed a parrot or a wombat....Or some mice. I like the bass though:thumbsup:

That’s a slick hunk of wood you’ve got there. I’m darned impressed. I’m glad it finally came. I know you’ve been waiting a while.

So this guy walks into a bar and says, “Hey, I’ve got this 20-year-old P Bass and I’m gonna string it with flats.”
    Five guys look up.

    Get it? Hahaha.

  9. Damn, basses made in the 2000s are now considered old?

    I feel ancient.

If it was a 5 string, I'd get it...

... if it was a 4, not so much.

. My other Fender is a little older (75 jazz body, 73 P neck), got that used about 33 years ago, when 70s Fenders we're almost a dime a dozen. Feel better?

I couldn't resist the tangerine translucent finish, gold guard, and the CS pickup (and got a good price).

I'd do everything I could to save that finish...

... was it a common option, or custom?

I'll have you know, I was trying to add something to the thread... 4 + 1 = 5.

    Looks awesome.

That color and pickguard goes well together.

    Congratulations!

I changed the orientation of my phone 180°... now, the bass is facing east.

I'd work it out, all Common Core like, but it may overburden the discussion.

I've contacted Fender to ask. There are a few checks on the edge, but I definitely want to keep it. I've never seen it before.
