NAD Mesa 400+

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Rockbobmel, Jan 15, 2017.

  1. I got the bug a few weeks ago, missing a Reeves 225. I looked at an Orange 200, an Aguilar 359, and a Shaw 150. I just couldn't justify the cost not needing anything.
The Mesa was on CL and the guy drove half way.
    Check out the 12 bottles. They are Wing "C"s !! and fairly recent. IMG_2834 (Copy).JPG IMG_2835 (Copy).JPG

I have had mine for the past 20yrs. Can't begin to tell you how many good quality tubes amps I have bought and sold over the years. The Mesa 400+ is the only one I will NEVER get rid of, good score!

    That is ALOT of glass.
  4. I had one before and had tube problems. It got straightened out, but I dumped it.

    I love my 400+
  8. So you didn’t get to try it before you bought it? Dangerous!

Now don’t put your beer on top of the amp!!! :D
  9. Further, you explain what will happen to any drummer who sets his beverage on your amp. ( you will drink half and set the rest on his ride cymbal )

  10. I just got a good vibe from the guy and he was very responsive and transparent. I've been lucky with my CL buys (knock on wood)!

    Looks awesome, very nice condition.

Winged =C='s are a great tube! I had a sextet of them and I forget who (TB user) bought my D180 but that amp was a tone monster loaded with Winged =C='s.

Good starting point on the amp is: Mids 8-9, Bass 2-3, Treble 2-3.

That's like parking a classic car in the garage and never taking it out :-(

  17. Probably due to the risk of back injury - talk about a lead sled!

These are one of the lighter tube amps in that power category (weighing in around 45lb).

His real reason might be the volume output.

  19. True, the few I've had to carry have been racked with other toys.
  20. maybe 4hrs total time on it since buying new, didn't seem heavy I just felt it was too nice and too expensive to bring out to punk shows. think the idea was a home studio which never panned out,, now it sleeps quietly in the cellar.
