NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

UPDATE #2:
my SVT7 pro started acting up again (i.e. cutting in and out), but this time nothing was blowing up/burning parts. it just started cutting in and out, and pretty rapidly.
seeing that they updated the suspected chip from an ICE2A165 to an ICE2A265 (1 amp vs 2 amps) and since i previously installed a socket for it i decided to give that one a shot.
it hasn't cut out yet. i used a laser temp gun and noticed that the new chip was getting very hot (191 degrees F!) but not beyond its rated operational thermal spec of 285 degrees, but just to be sure, i added an aluminum heatsink to it and applied it with 3M thermal tape. now it only gets up to about 132 degrees after an hour of running it and it hasn't cut out since.

mine crapped out on a gig 2 weeks ago. got 5 years on it before but still not a happy fan of the NEW Ampeg company
The 7 has the mid that pops for me. You can always add bass. the fur is really sweet when you push the pre too.

i understand completely. it's so disheartening when you finally find an amp that you really dig the sound of and then it becomes unreliable, making it impossible (or at least stupid) to take it to gigs.
is yours cutting in and out? or is it just dead?
started out cutting out for a few days then died. learned decades ago poopie happens so i always have an extra amp right there.

I want one of these SVT 7 amps so bad. But i really am not able to afford such a high failure rate on some of my gigs. .. I own 3 other ampeg amps that i've had for 27, 25, and 20 years and they are still great. .This poor SVT7.. Maybe and SVT 9 is on the horizon that will get this fixed..

i ran mine for 3 hours straight after installing the new ICE2A265 and it hasn't exhibited the cutting out issue at all. i'm really glad to get it up and running reliably again cuz i've always loved the sound of it.
