One of the bands I’m in is moving into a new rehersal space, and I needed an amp to keep there, powerful enough to keep up with the rest of the band. I aready own a Rumble 500 combo with a 210 extension cab, but hardly ever use the extension cab, as the combo on its own is usually more than powerful enough for the type of gigs I do. I hit upon the idea of keeping the cab in the rehearsal space and getting a small head that I could carry back and forth to rehearsal.

The BAM seemed to fit in terms of size, power and price, so it was duly ordered. I picked it up today, and was pleasantly surprised by the compact size and the solid feel. I connected it to the Rumble 210 cab and was rewarded with a very nice tone, not a million miles away from my Rumble 500, in fact, which suits me down to the ground. No doubt the Rumble cab had something to do with it.

There seemed to be plenty of power on tap, certainly enough for rehearsal, maybe even a small gig. The build quality is very good, and it’s heavy enough to stay in place on top of the cab. All in all, I’m quite pleased with it so far.

Actually, I think it works quite well. It sounds really nice through the Rumble 210, though it hasn’t quite got the oomph of the 500c, but then I wouldn’t expect it to. However, it’s more than enough for rehearsal purposes, and I primarily bought it for its ease of transport, after all. Power-wise, it’s more or less on par with the 200c, and sound-wise it’s actually not that far off either. On balance, I’d say it’s just about perfect for my purposes.

  4. Congrats! I recently got its cousin, the BQ500 as a backup as well and have been very impressed with the quality and watts-per-dollar.

I think these little TCE heads are great. They definitely are NOT toys, and can dish out power and tones far above their pay grade. I still have amps that cost 5-6x as much, but wouldn't feel undergunned using the TC. In fact, if we get to have a Christmas parade in our town this year (darn you Rona!) I'm going to use the TC on our live music float.

    Enjoy your new amp!

I’ve had one for over a year. it has been rock solid…no issues at all. I normally use it with an Acme Low B1 at home and for rehearsals. It sounds great. I recently bought a NS Design NXT-A five string. The combination is outstanding. Last, it’s a big 200 watts.
