Have any of you guys tried a Nady SP-5 Microphone?

MY guitarist is looking into getting a cheaper microphone that still sounds good. I recommended him a shure sm58 but that is pretty expensive. So would you suggest a Nady SP-5, if not, what would you suggest?

We've been having pretty good luck with a small collection of AKG's that the band has owned for a while (all are the under-$60 variety). As well, my singer just got a new trio of Behringers (paid about $50 for the set at GC). Hotter output than the AKG's and pretty darned good sound for the price (even came in a nifty padded case).

As inexpensive as the Nadys are at MF, it sure can't hurt to buy one or two and try 'em out. Even if they aren't what you're looking for, you can use them as backups.

My experience with Nady gear is that it is crap. Get the SM58 or for a few bucks less - the SM57 (same mic, smaller wind screen).

The 58 is the standard by which all other mics are judged. And you can pound a nail with it.

You should be able to find one used for less than $100.
