New 2017 Limited Edition AmPro Jazz will be available in June. Looks amazing. Satin finish neck, alder with figured maple top.

I fail to see what is exotic about this bass. Pretty bass but I was expecting a exotic wood finish.

I would agree, some of the other exotics were more "exotic" than the bass... it sure is pretty though

Looks a lot like the Select series they have/had.

It is quite exotic for a classic Fender in kind, isn't it? :D

Yes, I couldn't agree more on the fact that the guitars take the biggest share of attention...

Not with such a flame-maple top. If it was solid sunburst/black/white, it would. :D

Not a fan of figured wood on Fender style basses. This one reminds me of the old photoflame finish.

I dig it drool, but to each their own, right? ;)

Wow, almost as nice as some of the Bacchus Jazz basses.
Not quite, of course, but an A- for effort.

Yes, and IIRC, Fender dealers dropped the prices on those fairly quickly when they didn't move.

These are the exotic Fender basses I'd like to see actually made. These are Prototypes that were never produced.

Now those are Fenders I might actually be interested in.

First thing I thought of when I saw it was "foto flame". Maybe more pix would help. I, for one, loved the look of the Fender Selects.

I think they are being listed at 1999 now. Which is about 150 over MAP. Which isn't too bad for a small batch limited run I imagine. My only issue is that when I get close to that 2k line I start thinking of other brands I'd like to give a go.

I thought the same thing Dave. Looks like first cousin or step-brother to the 2012/2013 Select Series. I like it, but probably wouldn't pay more than $1300 for it in a year or two.

its strange to me how the 'foto-flame' era (not to mention all the companies like Dean, Peavey, etc that followed similarly) of fake tops have dulled my sense of appreciation for the exotic-wood look, even if they are real
