Hi. Does anyone out there know if I need to get custom made pickups in order to have a 6 string bass with 14mm string spacing at the bridge? I've never had a bass with bar magnet pickups -- would that be one way to go, or do bar magnets also have points along them where sensitivity is maximized?

    Thanks,

    Kim

Have you looked at EMG extended range pups??? They''ve been playing around with wide bars as well as Kent Armstrong.

As for the spacing, you might go with an ABM bridge. They have adjustable spacing....(if I understand your question correctly).

As far as sensitivity variance, you might phone the guy at Aero custom pups, (he won't email a discussion, IME). He'll probably tell you more than you ever wanted to know.
