I ran into this bass at a pawn shop and couldn't help but to put it on layaway because it played so nice!! I'm just wondering how in the world a bass can get to this point. It must have been played on thousands of gigs. The thumb indention by the rear pickup is so deep! I can't even imagine ever playing one to this point of wear. The serial number dates it anywhere between 69-73. I didn't have time to take it apart. I just went for it. Here are some pics. What a fun bass this is going to be!! Any thoughts?

If it's been played that much over the years, I imagine it sounds pretty decent.

That aftermarket Fender logo screwed in by the bridge made me weep.

Must have worn one of those belt buckles with a bottle opener built into it
  6. Love the look of it, asides the fender logo next to the bridge :banghead: Are you going to keep the BadAss on there or swap it for a standard Fender bridge ?!
  7. that's shagging nice!!!!! take the badge off and treat her right!!
  8. If it plays great Id be putting more wear on that, ive never found something like that at a pawn shop. As you likely know the fender logo by the bridge is from a Fender case, probably the original case after it got destroyed from gigs, no way has a bass that worn had its original case survive lol

Not sure if I'll pursue a vintage bridge for it. It sounds great as is...!

Awesome!!!! Looks in better shape than mine... At least yours still has paint. ;)

Mine has the crazy "anchor hole" by the bridge pickup as well.

    Pawn shop, eh? How much?

That bass would be so sweet if you took the badge off and screwed it on across the whole headstock, custom cutting for the tuner pegs. Just an idea if you'd like to increase the value...

Too cool. Don't change a thing other than adding more play wear.
  17. I loving that thing, about the only thing I would change is that case badge. That's pretty rank, but then so is the whole bass. Serious mojo baby! Yea!
