Nathan East Acoustic Electric?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by TalBass, Dec 17, 2002.

  1. I just saw the Eric Clapton concert on Direct TV. Anyone know what kind of bass Nathan East was using at the beginning of the concert? It was an acoustic electric, but I couldn't catch the name on the headstock.

  2. I'm pretty sure it's a Guild.

A few years back, back when Clapton did the "unplugged" MTV thing, Nathan did use a Gulid ABG (lovely bass, btw), but of late he has been using a custom Yamaha 5 string ABG (I believe it is black finish). The very small Yamaha logo on the headstock makes it quite hard to tell just what the make is.
I am also quite sure that this is NOT a production model.

For what it is worth: He also uses an ADL tube direct and an Avalon U5 on his ABG. All connected with those very pricey TARA cables (must be nice to be Nathan!), but, as far as I know, he does not use the Yamaha Nathan East Parametric EQ live.

  4. I was kind of wondering that too. It sounded really good.
