Now, I know a lot of you guys don't like the distressed look, but I think the previous owner did a pretty good job by utilizing the more technically challenging and rather time consuming technique of playing it for 33 years. But I'm not here to start a flame war, I just want to show off my bass.

Already saw it on r/bass. I was pretty sure that 2 MM Sabre NBD's in one week was no coincidence. Still sexy as ever though.

Ha, yeah, I loaded up on karma yesterday, and decided to keep on sharing it with the internet. Plus it sounds at least twice as sexy as it looks.

It's been on CL for a couple of months now that I know of.

  12. Just curious? Why is that a crazy price? Decent condition late 70's Fender Jazz basses go for that much, and these are pretty rare.

Well it's been on CL for over 2 months, so that should tell you something. I think some of the late 70's Fender basses are over priced as well. Just cause it's OLD don't make it BETTER than new.

Even the 70's Jazz market has gone way soft compared to what it used to be a few years ago.
But as a pre-EB Sabre owner, even I'll admit that even as rare as it is the Sabre has always been overshadowed by the StingRay, and they generally don't fetch as much as a similar era Ray. Especially when natural and black are THE most common colors on preEB's...if it was Inca it would be more realistic.

But! 70's Musicmans are built far better than 70's Fenders.

Doesn't really tell any one much at all.

The seller can ask what he wants and the seller may not be disparate for money, And I'm sure we all can agree that there are people who will pay the asking price.

I've seen Sabres go in the 800-1500 range depending on condition, but at 2200 that's store sticker pricing for instruments that tend to stay in the stores for quite a while

No, we can't all agree on that.

When a bass has been on CL for months, unsold, it tells you that the bass is overpriced. Clearly and unequivocally. That bass is at LEAST $700 overpriced. At $2,500 it will never sell.
