Thanks to Ric5 for modifying a 2010 Ric 4003 Jetglow to be a five stringer! I played my 4001 for 15 years before I switched to five string, and I always wanted a 5 string Ric. Now I've got one, and it's beautiful, and plays great! Jeff's skills are top notch!

Can't wait to get it home and plug it in!

Here are the pics Jeff took before he shipped it to me:

    Thanks again Jeff!

    just...WOW..

I am not a huge ric fan, but that is just short of perfect. The only thing that would make it better would be if it were hanging on MY wall

Very nice looking! I was inspired by Jeff's work to do my own 5'er Ric conversion, and it's my favorite bass ever.

  4. Absolutely incredible.

This makes me want to get a new one and have it converted to 5. I love my 4003S/5. I would love to do this and/or have it made a fretless as well.

I convert 4 string Rickenbackers to 5 string basses.
That one came out nice ... The 2010 4003 is a good bass to convert.

I know where one of the 70s 4001, Univox stereo lawsuit copies is hanging right now...and it is cheap

It would never be a ric, but there is no reason it could not be converted to a 5er, and be a good playing bass

something about cutting up a real ric just bugs me

    Nice!

Question, is that a modded Rick bridge or something custom?

  8. Beautiful! Congrats!

What does the spacing equate to on that mod?

I convert 4 string Rickenbackers to 5 string basses.
That bass may not have a strong enough neck to hold 5 strings.

you may be right, but I gotta go look at it now...Like I said, I do not like cutting up something as nice as a ric. I am not a big ric fan, but I do appreciate quality and class. A copy means nothing to me, and I would have no problem with that

Looks good. I'll never have a Rick, nor will I probably play many fivers at all, but if I ever need a 5 string Rickenbacker, I know where to go. Very cool.

OK, now you have me thinking...and maybe G.A.S.ing a little. What is the truss rod diameter on a ric?.
