    61DBDB76-2460-4613-BA62-53EDEAF145EA.jpeg Okay, so this came as a bit of a surprise to me. I’ve been in the market for a fretted 6 string with narrow string spacing, but I have long had a preference towards maple/alder/ash tonewoods and doublecut shapes with headstocks. Then I came across this at Guitar Center this evening.

    So now I am the proud owner of a headless fretless Kiesel Zeus 6 string with a walnut body, figured walnut top, walnut and purplehear neck, and what I think is a ziricote fingerboard, though I’m not sure.

    The rear pickup has so much bark and the bass has this huge authoritative voice all over the neck. And the balance is perfect. I love it!

    The neck is a a bit deeper than my ideal (FBass), but I think I can adapt to that. Also, the volume knob seems to have a logarithmic taper instead of linear; I can only hear the instrument in the 20% of the turn. That’s an easy fix though.

    Gorgeous! :drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

    Possibly a Pale Moon Ebony fretboard? :thumbsup:

    Looked at the Kiesel site. They have an option called Royal Ebony. Maybe that’s it? Whatever it is, it sounds good.

    Mac's usually a bit darker - the long contrasting yellowish/black stripes are the giveaway... :)

    Spent about 6 hours playing it today (and having an awesome lesson with Tony Grey). Woohoo! Now I really want to order a fretted Zeus as well.

    Posted a review. Still enjoying it, especially the pickups. I would use them on other basses too.

    Nice looking axe and good score. It looks (and sounds) like that bass has a coated board. Carvin's "hard as fingernails / HFC" finish was an option 50 for years, probably still is. Nice ramp too, did you make it yourself?

    Thanks! The ramp is made by Bonk Products. He gas a store on Reverb. There’s a link in the vid description. Yes, the fingerboard has the “hard as nails” finish.

    Macassary ebony has some lighter streaks in it.
    But not that much.

    I'm at work so I can't watch all of the video, so apologies if you cover this question in the video, but how does it balance with the upper "horn" extending only to the 16th fret or so?

    Congratulations on that NICE instrument. I'm personally 100% into rock stage friendly bass looks, thus naturally not a fan of single cut, headless or bare wood display. Still I find this bass really harmonic looking, definitely aesthetically appealing. Plus, I'm back to fretless (after a 16 year hiatus), therefore that's a big plus for me right now. Will do some searching to hear how these sound. Gnarly bass!
  18. Fantastic! Congratulations!
  19. Love the fretboard and electronics plate! :) Classy! :)
