Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Spleenface92, Sep 16, 2010.

  1. I've wanted an alembic for a while, so I go on ebay, and I find this pristine 1996 Alembic Epic with a buy it now price of $1500. So, I bought it. It's amazing. I can't stop playing it.
(Sorry in advance for the low quality photos...I can't find my camera anywhere, so I used my webcam)

The guy packed it amazingly. In a hardshell case, wrapped in bubble wrap, with what must have been what I paid him in packing peanuts around it. There is now a small white styrofoam mountain in the front hall....

I said the same thing about my Epic 5... :bassist:

Then had to sell it to cover vet fees... :bawl:

Miss the sound, look, and playability, don't miss the almost 12lbs weight.

    But that's a good-looking bass bro.

There was an Epic 6 at Steves in Toronto several years ago that was similar in wood combination to yours. I remember it being one of the best sounding 6 strings I have heard. Super clear sounding yet warm. Great basses! Nicely done!

Ha. If I had a dime for every time I've thought that... :D

    Enjoy your beautiful new bass!

  9. I'm definitely going to have to sell one of my basses now. Thanks for all the compliments!

  10. That'll be interesting. Fender Jaguar, Fender Precision, Squier Katana, Jay Turser Precision, Alembic....It's gonna make them all look bad. :p This thing is so amazing.

  11. Awesome Bass! One day I hope to also own an Alembic (used, of course).

I got a lefty, that has the exact same top (well, you can see where my thumb wore into it)....... a really good bass, got mine in 1995 for 1,800 new. One of the best action, best sounding and best playing basses, that I own. It's been through hell and back......... I had originally went shopping for a Ric, but opted for this one.

Nice score. Do I see correctly - are the pickups recessed into the route?

  19. Absolutely gorgeous. Mirror images...except for the thumb wear. What is the top made of, by the way? Anyone know? I know its a mahogany body and a maple neck...but I don't know what the top is...
