NBD! Another round of rate that sound: HARLEY BENTON

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Salamenster, Mar 28, 2015.

  1. Picked up a new bass for only 75,- euros practically as new.

Harley Benton pb50, single coil precision bass.

Mine has the chrome 50's style covers on bridge/pu

This thing screamed reggae to me, so I put my old 105-55 GHS P flats on it and with a tad of EQ (bass boost/treble cut) and a bit of foam under the bridge, it sounds like this:

I like high action so I wouldn't say the set-up is optimal and the feel is 'perfect' but I don't like that anyways. When you get used to the stiff strings and the baseball neck it's pretty comfy. Just give me a bass to pound away on and I'll find a way to play the right notes, lol.

    All together money well spend.

sounds like it does the job. I'm guessing it's roughly the equivalent of the SX - Squire range.
