Just got this and have an hour to two playing time on her. Atelier-Z with an Aggie OBP-3 (3-band) and Aggie pups. Glow-dot side markers on the neck.

About 8.4 lbs too! Super straight neck and lllllow action. Tone is killer! Can't wait to gig her!

    Well done!

    Here's mine in trans white:

About 4 years in my possession now; Mine has Atelier-Z pups & an East pre-amp; I didn't know that they built them with Aguilars, but that's a good option.

I'll put the build quality and tone of any Atelier-Z bass as equal to (or better) than any Fender-style bass on the market, and that includes the ultra-high $$$ brands. My .02

One of my favorites, congrats on making a great choice; I know you'll be impressed.

The one I bought was upgraded to Aguilar as the build sheet it came with said Atelier Z pups and J-Retro pre. But whoever installed the Aguilar stuff did a very clean job. Looks factory... 20171127_200805-1.jpg

I'm lovin that trans-white by the way! In any case, the build quality is SUPERB on these. I'm talking at or better than the likes of Lull, Sadowsky, etc, etc... Another worth contender (also from Japan), is Dragonfly. I have one of those too. It's a dead-heat (IMHO) on build quality, etc between Atelier Z and Dragonfly.

This is my Dragonfly. Can't wait to take both out on a gig together and A/B them!

Wow. I remember now when you posted about ordering your Dragonfly! I surely don't need to "preach to the choir" so to speak. I also have a Dragonfly CJ-4 (double-cut version; LOVE their SC shape) and they are amazing instruments as are the Atelier-Z's.
    You're set!

I'm a major fan of Japanese builders, and own several others besides those two (Psychederhtyhm, TUNE, TRUTH, Sugi, Sago, and KILLER).
Not saying that USA, German, English, etc. built basses aren't superb; they are. But SOMETHING about the details and approach of the Japanese small builders appeals to me, and I have been far from disappointed with any of mine.

Any interested Bass Guitarist would have a lot of fun in the Music Shops in Tokyo, etc. Unlike almost anything here stateside.

Enjoy your basses; they are tops!
